At least for now, no world other than the Earth exist, for synthesizing understanding of the universe and our existence to create knowledge through inquiry. This guarantees a sense of responsibility upon us as far as our civilization is concerned. It is a matter of glory that we stand at this special point in human history where knowledge gained over a period of time, have been organized in rich and diverse fields. An objective analysis of facts based on logic, reason and experimentation has been the bedrock of this organization. Verificationism has been an independent criterion to any method of inquiry and this has been admitted to our senses. Experimentation and its verification is not just limited to theories but to our daily practices and behaviors.
Science isn’t just the mechanistic formulation of laws and theorems; it is also an intellectual domain where a rational method of inquiry is sought out based on an objective analysis of facts. We have to be honest by thinking critically and accepting science as the primary ingredient of all development ranging from the cognitive domain of an individual to the infrastructural development of the world.
But science and critical thinking seem to have been heavily missed in public policy making. Making plans is not just enough; there has to be proper understanding of the problem, materialization of goals and methodologies in the first place. As we can see, most of the highly prioritized goals like alleviation of poverty, birth control, stabilization of peace are never really achieved despite global coherent interests and efforts. We must revisit these problems by incorporating critical thinking into our methodology for effective operationism.
